Liverpool-headquartered law firm Weightmans LLP has merged with two law firms, Elborne Mitchell and Myton Law, strengthening its presence in London and Leeds, respectively.

The deals take affect from 1 April 2026 and are in response to “ever-increasing needs and expectations” from clients. Elborne Mitchell brings insurance, employment and commercial capability, while Myton Law – a six-person team – adds expertise in shipping, rail and logistics.

Weightmans managing partner Sarah Walton said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce these mergers. Joining with Elborne Mitchell and Myton Law will contribute significantly to the depth and breadth of services we offer to clients across the globe. Everyone is committed to a shared philosophy of delivering client service excellence and it is with that philosophy we now head into our new future together.”

Currently, Weightmans operates across 10 offices, including in London and Leeds. It employs more than 1,500 lawyers and recruits around 14 trainees annually.

The combination follows a wider trend of firm consolidation, which has seen several firms announce mergers earlier this year, including Taylor Wessing and Winston & Strawn London LLP, Ashurst LLP and Perkins Coie, and Hogan Lovells and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
