The University of Law has reported a significant rise in profits, posting a pre-tax surplus of £4.2 million for the year ending 31 May 2025, which is more than double the £1.6 million recorded the previous year. Newly filed accounts show income increasing by 6% to £173 million, a boost attributed to what the institution described as an “optimised course and campus mix” and a review of its costs base.
In an exciting development for aspiring lawyers, The University of York and The College of Legal Practice (the College) have joined forces to provide a master's programme – the LLM in Professional Legal Practice (SQE1 & SQE2) – designed to prepare students for the Solicitor Qualifying Exam (SQE). The first cohort of students is expected to start in September 2025, with approximately 50 students enrolling on the course.
