We are human first in everything we do. We care deeply about our teams, their career development and our clients. With our positive friendly nature, each of our employees makes our firm an incredible place to work and are encouraged to develop and innovate new ideas to help build our collective success.

As an employee, it’s important to understand the strategic direction of the firm, and your role in helping to achieve it. We encourage our people to be open about their ideas and views and to tell us what they think. Everyone at Moore Barlow has a part to play in our success.

We value our staff and pride ourselves in making this a great place to work. We like to offer our staff a clear career path and are keen to support all our employees with continuous development.

When recruiting trainees we aim to identify candidates who have the potential to eventually become partners within the firm. Ours is a long-term commitment during which you will be given every opportunity to excel. We have no stereotype in mind when recruiting trainees. We value and encourage different types of people because we believe this leads to innovation and strength.

You will be given every opportunity to take on responsibility as your knowledge and experience increases. We encourage client contact early in your career. We will support you during your training but also expect you to take responsibility for your own learning and for developing additional skills.

We encourage and support a healthy work-life balance, and want you to enjoy not only your professional life but also the lifestyle benefits of working close to the countryside, the sea, and with easy access to London. We have an open door policy where you can approach anyone in the firm to ask for assistance, information or guidance. We know that a positive and committed team, working together with mutual respect, creates a better working environment for everyone.

If you are looking for a career opportunity in a vibrant, busy law firm with a reputation for delivering consistently excellent work, look no further than Moore Barlow.

Joining us in either March or September, your training will normally be organised as four seats, each lasting six months. The allocation of seats depends on demand and the commercial needs of each business team. We try and take your preferences into account when allocating seats and ensure that you gain broad experience across our specialisms.

You will receive performance reviews at the end of each seat and will be able to discuss progress with the early careers manager and training principal. In return for your hard work and commitment, we offer:

  • excellent training and support;
  • a competitive salary;
  • 25 days' holiday each year, plus three additional days off over Christmas;
  • Group life assurance cover;
  • private health insurance; and
  • private pension and a range of other exciting benefits!

The firm will transition to SQE from 2026. Any trainee who joins us in 2026 will need to complete the SQE unless they have already completed the LPC. For applicants who have already completed or are studying the LPC, you will complete the PSC during the course of your training contract.

We are an inclusive employer and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply. This not only ensures we attract people from different backgrounds, but also ensures that our services are provided by people who genuinely represent the rich culture of the UK. We believe that investing in our people will help us deliver the very best service to our clients.

Our culture is open, diverse and inclusive; it’s an environment of belonging, where people can thrive and be the best version of themselves. We strive to nurture our people and offer enjoyable, fulfilling and sustainable careers. This includes providing the best training, great pay and rewards, and a good work-life balance.

We fund both SQE1 and 2 and contribute an equivalent amount to the cost of the LPC.
