Application details and method of selection
We don't have a 'one size fits all' criteria for what we look for in a trainee. We believe that different areas of work require different skills and our lawyers are as individual as the clients that we represent. However, our successful trainees have often had one or more of the following attributes: good academic background, enquiring interest in the wider world, ability to work under pressure, excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, analytical ability, sense of humour, attention to detail, energy, resilience and ambition.
For training contracts to commence September 2019 the deadline for applications is 30 June 2017.

Firm description and career prospects
Blaser Mills is a leading law firm based in the South East with 18 partners and over 50 lawyers.
We are a full-service firm, offering a comprehensive range of legal services to businesses and private individuals. We act for blue-chip companies that are household names as well as SMEs, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organisations.
Blaser Mills has expanded into international markets, regularly advising clients in the UK doing business overseas and international clients wanting to invest in the UK.
The firm has a rich history and we have retained our reputation for high-quality legal advice from lawyers who are experts in their fields. At the same time, our modern and innovative approach means that we deliver practical and cost-effective solutions.
Our lawyers are committed to delivering outstanding service levels and providing clear and prompt advice to our clients. Our clients’ interests are at the core of everything we do and we work to create long-term relationships with them.
We offer a broader range of legal services than most of our competitors and are trusted advisers across a wide spectrum of specialisms. For trainees, this provides exposure to a real variety of working experiences.
Trainees are right at the heart of the firm and nothing demonstrates this more clearly than the fact that the majority of our partners trained with us. Progression to partnership is strictly on merit and excellence is continuously rewarded.
Our comprehensive range of legal services includes corporate and commercial; employment; wills, trusts and probate; dispute resolution; family and divorce; commercial and residential property; criminal defence and personal injury.
Training contract programme
Training starts in September with a full induction day that introduces you to the firm. You will need to hit the ground running though, as you start work in your first seat from the second day. You will have four varied seats of six months each, giving you the opportunity to gain experience across a range of legal disciplines. This is designed to help you to make an informed decision on what area of law you choose to focus on during your career. We also try to place you in as many of our six office locations as we are able, so that you can gain as complete a view of the firm as possible.
A training supervisor for each seat will allocate work to you on a daily basis and provide you with the necessary training to ensure you qualify as an outstanding solicitor. Our training supervisors are approachable and always available to assist trainees, maintaining an open-door policy. In addition, our trainees have access to a team of mentors; someone you can turn to when you just need a friend for advice and guidance in the right direction. They are typically lawyers who have recently qualified so are able to offer firsthand, recent experience and advice.
Throughout the traineeship, there are a number of social events that allow you to meet other trainees and staff, build relationships and really feel part of the firm.
Corporate and commercial, commercial property, criminal defence, dispute resolution, employment, family and divorce, personal injury and serious injury, residential property, wills, trusts and probate.
