Student law societies, law firm representatives, multi-award-winning charity upReach and the LawCareers.Net team gathered last night on Thursday 12 March 2026 to celebrate the 12th annual LawCareers.Net Student Law Society Awards, sponsored by BARBRI.

The purpose of the awards is to highlight the hard work of student law societies across the UK through a range of different award categories – from ‘Best society for first-year students’ to ‘Best society for commercial awareness’. This year, we also added a new award to the mix – ‘Best society for international students’!

Nominees across the 14 award categories were praised for their hard work in engaging, encouraging and providing opportunities for their members.

Nominated societies were selected from 53 submissions of committees themselves, alongside nearly 2,300 votes from their members.

Content and engagement coordinator at LawCareers.Net, Dimitar Dimitrov, commented: “The Student Law Society Awards is one of our favourite events at LawCareers.Net. It provides us with invaluable insights into the operations of student law societies and highlights the tremendous effort and dedication of their committees.

"Now in the 12th year of the awards, it’s clearer than ever that societies are actively engaging and supporting their members throughout every stage of their future legal careers. From hosting inspiring career and social events to prioritising members' welfare and demonstrating a strong commitment to diversity, this year's awards truly showcased the excellence of student law societies across the UK.

This year also marks the introduction of the new 'Best society for international students' category, which recognises the vital work societies do to support, include and champion their international members. As international students navigate not only the demands of legal study, but also the challenges of adapting to life in a new country, celebrating the societies that help them feel empowered and represented is more important than ever.”
