Aspiring Solicitors launches national commercial awareness competition 2017-18

updated on 20 September 2017

Diversity organisation Aspiring Solicitors has opened team registrations for its national commercial awareness competition 2017-18.

The competition is open to all undergraduates, graduates and career changers, and last year 340 teams from over 60 universities took part. Aspiring Solicitors, LCN’s diversity partner, has designed the competition to develop participants’ awareness of political and current affairs, and how they shape the world of business. Teams will compete over four or five rounds taking place from November 2017 – March 2018. The winning team will receive six weeks’ work experience split between each of the competition’s sponsors: Barclays, Clifford Chance, Dechert, Mayer Brown, TLT and Travers Smith. However, all participants have the opportunity to impress the attending law firms during the competition, with many of last year’s other finalists also being offered vacation schemes and even training contracts.

Teams of three can register by 5:00pm on 10 October 2017. The competition is CV-blind, with participants only assessed on their performance in each round, not their academic background, so team names should not make any reference to a particular university or degree subject.
