Trethowans is a leading law firm based in the South of England with a team of over 250 including 45 partners and over 90 lawyers. The firm is a full-service law firm and has a diverse and expanding client base on a regional and national level. Our continued success is due to the quality of our people and the growing strength and reputation of our brand. Our partners and staff enjoy the benefit of living close to the south coast whilst having the quality of work and clients most often associated with a City firm including household name clients such as Ladbrokes plc, Endsleigh Insurance Services, Jewson (part of the Saint Gobain Group), Pizza Hut and Rowanmoor.

Service excellence is a priority - clients value the firm's ability to deliver expert advice, in a personable and friendly manner.

On the commercial side, we represent international and national household brand names, owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurs and major regional employers across the UK. When acting for individuals, we represent landowners, entrepreneurs, local families, property developers and trustees amongst others.

Legal advice to businesses includes: corporate, commercial, banking, commercial property, commercial and property litigation, insurance litigation, employment, licensing, health and safety and regulatory work. Legal advice to individuals includes: personal injury; wills, trusts and tax; wealth structuring and inheritance planning; agriculture and rural property; family and residential property.

Many of our teams and individuals are rated in both the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession and Legal 500, the two independent guides to the legal profession in the UK.

Trainee solicitors usually undertake four separate specialist seats, each lasting six months. The firm offers a flexible approach in deciding trainees' seats to suit individual needs, while providing a broad training programme in accordance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority guidelines. Trainees work closely with the supervising lawyer/partner to whom they are responsible. They are considered an important part of each team and become closely involved in the team's work to obtain first-hand legal experience.

Each trainee's performance is reviewed regularly by their supervisor and regular feedback is provided. Trainees are an integral part of the firm from day one. They are responsible for an internal communications blog, involved in organising annual social events, and participate in business development and in supporting the firms nominated charities.
