Harrowells is a leading regional law practice which has a significant presence in Yorkshire’s highly competitive legal market and are recognised as specialists at a national level in a number of legal sectors.

The Harrowells ‘difference’ is that we always bring dedication and a practical perspective to our work. This transforms our advice from being legally ‘expert’ into something that is really effective from the client’s perspective.

Offering excellent advice and great service relies on having people who are skilled, personable and practical – so naturally we take the recruitment and training of our staff very seriously. We believe our trainee solicitors have what it takes to become the future partners of Harrowells and we want to hear from you!

If you’re interested in a legal career with a successful regional law firm, our vacation schemes are a perfect way to introduce yourself and find out more about us. Our vacation scheme gives you an insight into life and culture and is an excellent opportunity for you to get to know us and how we work - all with a view to starting a training contract with us. During your time with us, you will have the chance to work alongside solicitors and our current trainee solicitors in their day job. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in key research and presentation tasks whilst being immersed in the firm’s friendly and social culture through specially organised social events throughout the duration of the scheme. There will be a chance for you to learn about career progression with Harrowells from our current employees and we will be running seminars on what it’s like to work in our different practice areas.

You will spend your time in two different departments to give you a valued insight into how a Harrowells solicitor works, so you can get a taste of real client tasks. We want you to make the most of your time with us so there will be opportunities for you to ask lots of questions and give us feedback. To help you settle in, we will match you up with a buddy who can assist you with any queries you may have throughout the scheme and give you an honest view of what life is really like working at Harrowells.

We recognise recruitment is a two way process - whilst our scheme enables us to meet you, we can give you the knowledge and advice to help you decide whether a career with Harrowells is right for you. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to be considered for a training contract with us over the course of the two week assessment.

What you need to know

Our two vacation schemes will run for two weeks from the 13 to 24 June and 27 June to 8 July 2022.

Successful candidates would start a training contract with us in either October 2022 or April 2023.

In addition to spending time within our departments, attending workshops and seminars, and getting to know us through social events, there will also be a specifically tailored team-working exercise for you to complete, a presentation to prepare and a formal interview so we can get to know you and your skills and experience better.
