Method of application

Greenberg Traurig, LLP is a different kind of law firm. Our London-based lawyers are united by a spirit of innovation, not bound by tradition.

Our strong entrepreneurial culture means that we listen to our clients' needs and respond, swiftly and effectively. We put together the right team of lawyers to help with each unique challenge and opportunity, delivering tailored, commercial, senior-led legal advice that makes the best business sense for our clients.

Built from the ground up, lawyer by lawyer, our rapidly growing team is here to help our clients' businesses.

We help UK and international clients in many different sectors on a range of matters across the legal spectrum, drawing also on the global resources and reach of Greenberg Traurig, one of the world's largest law firms.

In short, Greenberg Traurig in London has forged a reputation on high-value deals and projects. The team provides legal services with clarity, efficiency, cost certainty and, above all, without ever losing sight of clients' commercial objectives. Recognised for providing trusted legal advice, our team of lawyers is consistently ranked by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500.

Globally GT has more than 2650 lawyers in 47 locations across the United States, Europe, Middle East, Latin America and Asia.

GT runs a one week, unpaid work experience programme in the London office during the Easter and summertime. Our programme is open to those in their last two years of compulsory schooling, or students taking post-16 courses.

If you would like to find out more about our work experience programme, please email [email protected]

With our broad geographic and practice platform, trainees will find wide-ranging professional opportunities as they start their legal careers at Greenberg Traurig. We use creativity to educate – and ultimately empower our new lawyers. In addition to our mentoring programs, we provide our new associates with high-level training in client management, business development, collaboration, and cultural skills. Our success hinges on our ability to develop a class of lawyers who can adapt to our clients’ emerging needs, and through entrepreneurship and rewarding initiative we provide our incoming attorneys with the resources necessary to meet that goal.

We empower lawyers at all levels to shape their own careers. Our recruiting program is designed to identify students who are eager to create their own opportunities and encourage them to seek new areas of practice that excite them.

The training programme offers four six-month seat rotations across our practice groups and also provides the opportunity for a client secondment. Our trainees sit with their supervisors on a daily basis and are given access to real client work. Our programme is supported but two training shareholders who meet with our trainees regularly to provide additional support and guidance.

The Solicitors Qualification Exam (SQE) is the new route to qualification for solicitors in England and Wales. Prospective solicitors are required to pass this new centralised assessment which is divided into two stages, SQE1 (functioning legal knowledge) and SQE2 (legal skills) prior to starting your two years' qualifying work experience with GT.

Although it’s no longer a regulatory requirement by the SRA, all non-law prospective trainees will still be required to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) before commencing the SQE.

We will provide trainees with a complete training programme to complete their SQE1 and 2 prior to starting their training contract at GT. We also provide an additional preparation for practice course which enables you to focus on your transition from academic study to legal practice.

From the start, we have believed that diverse viewpoints drive innovation and produce smarter ideas for our clients. Diversity is more than a core value: diversity is in our DNA. In 1967, our founders, faced with religious discrimination, established a new kind of law firm where everyone was welcomed.

Our diversity, equity and inclusion roadmap is comprehensive, strategic, and proactive. We continuously strive to reach short-term actionable goals that drive long-term change.

If you are offered a training contract, GT will fund your SQE training through our preferred training provider. We will also provide a maintenance grant whilst you study.

If you are a non-law graduate and need to complete a PGDL course, this will also be funded by GT.
