LawCareers.Net is delighted to announce the launch of the 2022 Student Law Society Awards (SLS Awards).

The LawCareers.Net SLS Awards celebrate the hard work of student-led societies across the country who support their members through activities that include:

  • careers and social events;
  • pro bono and mooting activities;
  • initiatives for aspiring barristers, first-year and non-law students;
  • highlighting and improving diversity within the legal profession; and
  • commercial awareness opportunities.

The SLS Awards are based on a submission from each student law society and the results of a survey of student law society members. The submissions are judged by the LawCareers.Net team and nominees will be announced in February 2022.

There are 13 awards up for grabs and the winners will be presented at a ceremony in March 2022:

  • Best at student engagement;
  • Best careers event;
  • Best social event;
  • Best society for non-law students – sponsored by Shoosmiths;
  • Best society for first-year students – sponsored by Burges Salmon LLP;
  • Best society for commercial awareness;
  • Best society for aspiring barristers;
  • Best society for mooting;
  • Best society for pro bono – sponsored by Reed Smith;
  • Best society for welfare (new award alert!);
  • Most committed to increasing diversity – sponsored by Baker McKenzie;
  • Best law society president; and
  • Best law society overall.

You can vote for your society by taking the online survey and telling us how your society supports you in the above areas.

Society presidents and committees wishing to be considered for the prestigious awards should first make a submission detailing its events and activities. We want to get a feel for what the society does and highlight some of your proudest achievements as a group. Email Bethany Wren on [email protected] for more information on submitting as a committee.

The deadline for submissions of both surveys is Tuesday 18 January 2022. For more information, visit the Student Law Society Awards microsite which features last year’s winning societies.

Good luck to all the societies involved!
