Irwin Mitchell and Thomas Eggar have announced their merger, which will be complete by the end of the year.
National firm Irwin Mitchell will be taking on all 450 of London-based Thomas Eggar’s employees and the newly merged firm will operate under the name Irwin Mitchell for the first half of 2016, with a new name to be potentially revealed in due course. The Law Society Gazette reports that the merger will create a 287-strong partnership, while the expected £250 million value of the merged firm will place it 11th in the UK rankings.
Andrew Tucker, chief executive of Irwin Mitchell, said: “This deal will significantly add to the value and diversification of our business and act as a catalyst for further growth… this is the latest step in our strategic expansion plan but we see still further opportunities arising as the market continues to consolidate.”
