Application details and method of selection

Thomas Eggar recruit two years in advance and applications should be made via the website. Your application form will be reviewed and if successful you will be invited to an assessment centre which includes a partner interview, presentation, written test and a group exercise. You'll also get to meet the trainees for lunch.

Our specialist personal wealth team can guide and advise individuals through all the stages of life covering aspects such as tax compliance and consultancy, wills, trust and estate probate and general personal legal.


We make a grant of 50% of the LPC fees and an interest-free loan to cover the balance: the loan is repayable over the period of the training contract.

Work placements

We run a two-week work placement in July/August each year: applications should be made online via our website. You will spend one week in our London office and the other week in our Gatwick office covering two different departments.

Training contract programme

Trainees would normally have four seats covering commercial property, commercial, litigation and private client. In order to give good exposure to the various specialisations, some of the seats are in different offices, either Chichester, Gatwick, London, Newbury or Southampton.
