A recent study conducted by wellbeing platform Unmind has unveiled a concerning trend within the legal sector, highlighting that poor lawyer wellbeing is costing big law firms an average of £65 million annually. Meanwhile, medium-sized law firms lost £34 million and smaller law firms lost £6.8 million on average each year.
US law firms are outperforming their London counterparts when it comes to pro bono work, according to a survey by Law.com. The study asked 35 law firms to disclose the total number of free hours worked by lawyers at their UK offices and the percentage of lawyers undertaking pro bono work.
The High Court has issued a warning to UK legal professionals following the alleged misuse of AI in two recent legal proceedings, where fake case-law citations had been submitted in court. The ruling, delivered by president of the King’s Bench Division Dame Victoria Sharp, urged immediate action to address the misuse’s “serious implications for the administration of justice and public confidence in the justice system”.
