The Bar Council has revealed that women and Black employed barristers are most likely to have experienced bullying, harassment or discrimination at work.

While diversity is improving and the barristers’ profession is becoming more transparent about diversity data, it still falls short of representing the demographic of the society it serves, the Bar Standards Board’s (BSB) report on Diversity at the Bar 2020 shows.

CILEX has awarded £123,000 in bursaries and scholarships this year as part of its CILEX Foundation scholarship programme, which supports those from under-represented and/or socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Seven students were awarded scholarships worth up to £13,200 each.
