Legal assistant apprentice

This role offers the potential for a permanent position upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, contingent on performance. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. 

There will be a range of responsibilities within this role:

  • Legal research: Conducting research on legal issues, statutes and case law to support legal arguments and strategies.
  • Document preparation: Drafting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions and briefs, sometimes including initial drafts.
  • Client communication: interviewing clients and witnesses, gathering information and providing updates on case progress.
  • Trial preparation: assisting with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, managing documents and preparing summaries.
  • Case management: organising and maintaining case files, managing evidence and tracking deadlines.
  • Administrative support: handling general office tasks like answering phones, scheduling meetings, managing correspondence and maintaining files.
  • Compliance: keeping up to date with changes in laws and regulations and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Contract drafting and review: drafting and reviewing contracts and other legal documents.
  • Negotiation support: assisting with negotiations and settlement discussions.
  • Fact-checking: verifying the accuracy of information in legal documents.
