Application details and method of selection
To apply for one of our Easter or summer vacation placements in 2018 or a training contract in 2020 please complete our online application form at www.skadden.com/uktraineesolicitors before 12 January 2018 for vacation placements, or 31 July 2018 for a 2019 training contract. We strongly encourage you to apply for a vacation scheme to secure a training contract.

Types of work undertaken and clients
Lawyers across the European network focus primarily on corporate transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, banking, tax, corporate restructuring and, energy and projects. We also advise in international arbitration, litigation and regulatory matters.
The firm pays for GDL and LPC course fees and provides a £8,000 maintenance grant for each year of these courses.
The firm offers two-week vacation placements over either the Easter or summer break to allow you a closer insight of our working culture and environment, as well as to provide first-hand experience of working on live transactions. There is a distinct emphasis on having our placement students involved in as much 'real' and relevant work as possible. You will be offered the chance to request the dates in which you would like to attend as well as two practice areas you wish to experience.
Training contract programme
The firm can offer you the chance to develop your career in a uniquely rewarding and professional environment. You will join a close-knit but diverse team in which you will be given ample opportunity to work on complex matters, almost all with an international aspect, while benefiting from highly personalised training and supervision in an informal and friendly environment.
The first year of the training contract will be divided into two six-month seats where you will gain experience in corporate transactions and international litigation and arbitration. In the second year of the training contract, you will have the opportunity to select your remaining seats in order for you to gain exposure in areas of greatest personal interest. There is also an opportunity for a seat in our Hong Kong office.
