Training contract

We have a dedicated application page which allows you to upload your CV and covering letter for submission to our HR team. This page also asks for a breakdown of your education history.

If you are successful, we will contact you to arrange a first interview with a member of our HR team and a senior associate. The structure of this interview will be based on the contents of your application form and will assess your skills and knowledge, relevant to the position of a trainee solicitor. At this stage, we will also ask you to review a case study and answer some questions about your understanding of the information provided.

What happens next?

The interview panel will review the answers you gave during your interview and assess your understanding of the case study. We will contact you to let you know whether you have been successful in reaching the second interview stage.

The second interview will be held with two of our partners. During this interview, you should expect to be asked a wide variety of general and business related questions. The partners will be predominately testing your commercial awareness, your suitability for a legal career and your fit with Edwin Coe.

If you would like to proceed to the application stage and have read and understood all of the steps leading up to this point, please start the application process here. Please ensure you have read, and fully meet our entry requirements, prior to sending us your application.

There will also be the opportunity to attend client or department meetings where appropriate. We expect you to work normal office hours of 9:30am - 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. We will reimburse travel expenses up a maximum of £100. If you are travelling overseas then check with us before planning your trip.

Our summer vacation scheme is aimed specifically at penultimate-year law students and final-year non-law students and graduates. However, we do accept law students if you are further on in your studies.

We offer eight students the chance to come and gain some work experience with us each year during the summer months. In order to select the most suitable candidates, we ask you to submit your CV and a covering letter to us, from which we will pick applicants we wish to interview.
