Paralegal or chartered legal executive

What does the role involve?

We are looking for an experienced paralegal or chartered legal executive to join the real estate team in Norwich.

The ideal person would be able to undertake a broad range of work as an integral part of the Norwich team but also would support and work with the wider national real estate team.

At this stage of your career, you are technically competent, reliable and able to undertake a broad range of paralegal work, without supervision which will include: managing your own smaller transactions; dealing with clients with close supervision and guidance; supporting the team delivering larger transactions, which may be cross office and multi – discipline; and dealing with transaction post completion work- stamp duty land tax and land registration.

Areas of work for the team are: 

  • Advising private and institutional investors in relation to landlord and tenant issues; 
  • Development work (excluding construction) with a specific emphasis on large-scale, residential-led projects; property investment portfolio acquisitions and disposals acting for both buyers and sellers; 
  • General property management including: surrenders; licences; wayleaves; easements; rent reviews; corporate support in connection with share and business acquisitions/disposals; property related banking and finance support.

Client base

Strategic land developers, comprising a range of landowners, promoters, development managers, and master developers. Corporates with portfolio property holdings. Property investors.

What experience is required?

We would be pleased to receive applications from paralegals and legal executives with experience in commercial real estate work.

**Essential: 

**Good academics –  minimum of 2.2 degree and good A levels or equivalents; 

  • High quality paralegal or legal executive experience; 
  • Excellent written English and ability to produce clear, logical drafting; 
  • Numeracy; 
  • Negotiating skills; 
  • Lateral thinking and problem solving skills; 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Enthusiasm towards building and strengthening relationships with long established clients and advisors; 
  • Flexibility to work with team members; 
  • Effective time and matter management and a systematic approach to work; 
  • Proactive team player; 
  • IT literacy; 
  • Good research skills; 
  • An enthusiasm for marketing with clients and multipliers.

Who would I be working with?

You will work with partners Caroline Dean and Carina Cobbold and their team in Norwich – you would also work with other real estate partners and teams within the firm-wide real estate national service line, which is headed up by Richard Hanson, and supported by a professional support lawyer.
