updated on 10 June 2011

Irwin Mitchell and The College of Law have joined forces with an agreement that will see members of the firm offered tailored training at all levels of their careers.

The partnership, termed the 'IMU Law and Business School', will see representatives from the firm and CoL working together to deliver legal training blended with business skills training through a series of structured programmes. Among other things, the scheme will offer:

  • non-law graduates additional training through the IM Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice;
  • trainees GDL (if needed), LPC and PSC courses; and
  • associates and partners a new Master's Level in Legal Management.

In addition, a relationship with ILEX Tutorial College and ILEX has been developed to provide an undergraduate IM Certificate in Legal Practice for those non-graduates at the firm who wish to further develop their legal careers.

The firm's director of HR & training, Andy Chalmers, said the aim was to bring together "the best of Irwin Mitchell's internal professional and legal education training and The College of Law's skill and depth of experience to improve further the firm's offering to clients, together with providing a real sense of career progression".
