A team from the University of Law's Manchester centre has won the fourth annual DAC Beachcroft Mooting Shield.
All entrants to the competition will have gained a valuable boost to their CVs, while the winners, Claire Brocklebank and Peter Stewart, also bagged a week-long work placement with international firm DAC Beachcroft. The firm established the competition in 2009 to help students in Yorkshire and the North East to improve their legal career prospects.
Virginia Clegg, regional senior partner of DAC Beachcroft's Leeds office, said: "The fourth year of our Mooting Shield competition has yet again highlighted the exceptional talent of our region's law students. Neither sets of finalists had studied law before this academic year, which makes their achievements even more impressive. Competitions of this nature are of considerable benefit for those wanting to practice as either barristers or solicitors, and the commitment demonstrated is commendable."
