RPC has opened a new office in New York City, becoming the latest UK law firm to expand into the US market.
The new office takes RPC's international footprint to four countries and joins its existing locations in London, Bristol, Singapore and Hong Kong. The New York launch will house a dedicated insurance team led by newly appointed partner and insurance specialist Scott Schechter.
RPC said that New York “is a natural hub for our international offering” and the move is designed to strengthen its ability to advise clients on complex claims involving US exposure, particularly in the financial lines and cyber sectors.
Commenting on the launch, RPC managing partner Antony Sassi said: "The New York office is an exciting development for our global insurance practice, developed in response to client demand. This is a strategic expansion of what is already one of the strongest global Financial Lines, Cyber, and W&I claims platforms in the market."
RPC is the latest in a growing number of UK firms seeking a presence in the US legal market. Earlier this year, Macfarlanes opened a representative office in New York, although it does not practise US law.
Other firms have opted for transatlantic mergers to establish or strengthen their US operations. Ashurst Perkins Coie, Winston Taylor and Hogan Lovells Cadwalader all emerged from tie-ups in early 2026.
