NLS to offer new LLM BPTC

updated on 29 March 2016

Nottingham Law School is to offer would-be barristers the chance to combine an LLM with the BPTC, all as part of a one-year course.

The master's component will be satisfied by completing a dissertation or undertaking practical legal work experience. Such experience might include offering pro bono advice at NLS' Legal Advice Centre or working at the Citizens Advice Bureau. NLS is currently the only provider to offer the one-year LLM BPTC, tying in with its LLM LPC. Students who do not wish to study for the master's are still able to do the traditional BPTC.

Helen Hudson, head of postgraduate professional programmes at NLS, said: "In a changing legal education environment it's important that we review and innovate our courses to meet the needs of students and employers. We gathered feedback from a number of sources which indicated that students consider the ability to acquire an LLM alongside their studies for the BPTC very attractive."
