Linklaters lawyers don’t need to give reason to request flexible working

updated on 16 April 2019

Lawyers at magic circle firm Linklaters LLP are now able to work from home without having to provide an explanation why. The changes to policy mean that trainees and junior lawyers will be able to request working from home, while previously the firm followed the statutory requirement of employees having to have been employed for 26 weeks before being eligible to make a request.

Nick Porter, partner and chair of the London people committee at Linklaters, said: “We believe that agile working is for everyone and that the right to request formal flexible working should be open to all.

“There isn’t a one size fits all model and people across our offices are finding the right flexibility for their roles and life. More importantly, we know that helping people to reach their life and work goals makes them happier, healthier and more motivated.”

The firm first rolled out its flexible working policy in 2015.
