Charles Russell – an apology

updated on 27 October 2014

The new edition of The Training Contract & Pupillage Handbook was published this week and copies are winging their way to university campuses nationwide as we write. The book is almost perfect, but we’re sad to confess that a mistake has been made on page 351, the directory entry for Charles Russell LLP. That’s right, Charles Russell with two ‘l’s, not one as appears in the book! Needless to say we are extremely sorry for this oversight and would like to apologise to the firm. We also urge you to have a look at how the page should have looked.

Of course the really alert Charles Russell watchers among you will be aware that the firm will change its name to Charles Russell Speechlys on 1 November 2014, the date the firm’s merger with Speechly Bircham goes live. This will create one of the world's leading private wealth and business law firms. The new firm will have 170 partners, a total of 500 lawyers and combined revenues of £135 million, placing it well within the UK top 30.

You will be able to read about the merged firm’s recruitment and training opportunities on LawCareers.Net from 1 November on what is currently Charles Russell’s page in our training contract directory.

Charles Russell’s trainee recruitment partner, John Fletcher, commented: "The merger of Charles Russell and Speechly Bircham presents a fantastic opportunity for both law firms and trainee recruitment remains an integral part of our combined business. Trainees from both firms have already begun to get to know each other better through various social events and we remain confident the current and future trainees will continue to benefit from our commitment to an excellent training programme."
