Legal assistant (voluntary placement)
Charles Allotey & Co is a South London firm with two branches in Stockwell and Thornton Heath, Croydon. We are currently providing opportunities for applicants interested in short term voluntary work placements with the view to gaining some practical experience. Please note this is an unpaid position designed for those seeking to gain some practical experience following successful completion of the LPC/BVC.

We undertake publicly funded work in crime, family and housing and a wide base of clients in the fields of immigration, employment and general civil litigation
The role
We are looking for bright and ambitious LPC graduates to assist fee earners with their cases provide practise support and may include attendances at court with counsel. The role would include:
- Active day to day support of the solicitors as required
- Direct exposure to clients, as well as telephone attendances
- assisting in preparation of cases and hearings
- conducting legal research as required
- providing administrative support and legal assistance in all areas
Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- IT skills (Word, Outlook and web-based applications)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good educational record
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic pro-active and hardworking attitude and a willingness to learn
