Develop across a two year training contract within the insurance litigation department of DAC Beachcroft Scotland LLP, continuously improve and develop knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare for qualification as a solicitor, whilst providing a high level of service to all clients, maintaining professional conduct and supporting other team members. Please note that this is a single seat traineeship (civil reparation) as permitted by the Law Society of Scotland
The role:

Provide advice and guidance to clients on law and legal issues relating to their case.

Draft documents, contracts and letters ensuring they are adapted to each client and their needs.

Correspond via letter and email with clients and other solicitors.

Negotiate with clients and other parties to reach an agreed outcome.

Interview witnesses and prepare witness statements.

Liaise with counsel, experts or other third parties on cases and court appearances.

Complete research tasks and analyse documents to provide advice to other team members or direct to clients.

Attend meetings, conferences and court and prepare all related paperwork. It is anticipated that in the second year of the traineeship the trainee will appear in court under a restricted practising certificate.

In conjunction with other fee-earners, work on live cases to help progress the file.

Work along-side all members of the team including support staff contributing to the firms strategy.

Build relationships with other departments and offices.

Assist in marketing activities including bids / tenders.

Contribute to extra activities such as corporate responsibility and social events.

Promote the firm at external events.

Maintain continuous professional development, ensuring knowledge relevant to the business is kept up to date with industry changes.
