Singapore summer vacation scheme

  • Commencing: Dates to be confirmed  - Likely to take place in the first two weeks of July
  • Location: Singapore
  • Closing date: Midnight, Sunday 24 March 2013

Latham's Singapore office will be offering a summer vacation scheme for English law students. Pending SRA approval it is anticipated that most, if not all of the trainees, will be recruited from those applicants who attend the summer vacation scheme in Singapore.

Successful vacation scheme applicants will spend two weeks in the Singapore office and the firm will provide return flights to the UK and accommodation in Singapore for the duration of the vacation scheme (as needed for applicants residing in the UK).

During the vacation scheme, candidates will be asked to produce written work and deliver a short presentation on a topic of their choice. Other members of the office will also deliver presentations on various topics, so that you will be immersed in the firm and gain a thorough view of how we work. There will be a number of social events which will give you the opportunity to speak to lawyers and trainees who can answer any questions that you might have. During your placement, you will be asked to decide whether you would like to apply for a training contract with us. If you do decide to do so, then you will be required to undergo interviews and other assessments towards the end of your placement.

The Singapore office hope to be offering English law training contracts from August 2014. During the two year training contract, trainees will spend one of their four six-month seats in the London office. The remainder of the seats will be spent in Singapore although there may be the opportunity to also spend a seat in one of our other Asian offices. At the end of the training contract, successful trainees will be offered a position as an English law qualified associate in the Singapore office.

Applicants for the Singapore summer vacation scheme 2013 should complete the online application form labeled 'Summer Vacation Scheme 2013'.
