Our legal organisation focuses on connecting our customers’ businesses to the ever-changing legal and regulatory environment. We provide critical online and print information, decision support tools, software and services to lawyers who practice in law firms, in corporate legal departments and in the public sector. We are a growing business in the UK, especially since the acquisition of Practical Law Company in March 2013 and we are very excited about the next stage in our growth and how you can play a part in it.
Copy editor (Practical Law)
Role purpose:
The copy editor will edit Practical Law content before publication to ensure that it is clear, correct, concise and consistent, and is written in Practical Law house style and tone.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities:

Editing Practical Law content in accordance with house style and tone and with Practical Law writing principles (training provided)

Training new joiners on Practical Law house style

Helping create editorial guidance on writing

Liaising with authors/editors on contributed content
Mandatory skills and experience:
-
Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
-
Ability to meet deadlines.
-
Good team working skills: must be able to work well within a number of different teams, and be easily adaptable to different team environments.

Good project management and prioritisation skills: must be able to organise and manage own work load, and prioritise effectively where necessary.

Good academic record (at least 2.1).

Undergraduate degree in Law or other degree plus the GDL
Desirable skills and experience:

Previous experience of working in an editorial role

Experience in a legal setting (law firm, regulatory body)

Knowledge of XML/Fatwire Dash
