Law Jobs

Corporate legal trainee

Firm description

Greenaway Scott is a specialist corporate and commercial law firm, focussing on businesses within the life science, healthcare, IT and technology sectors. Currently based in Cardiff, the business is planning to expand within the next 12 months, and the Cardiff team will be relocating to a larger, newly-built office by the end of the year. The successful candidate would be joining a commercial trainee a few months into their contract with the company. The firm has a welcoming atmosphere and places particular focus on training individuals to achieve their full potential.

Greenaway Scott has just been ranked in the Start-Ups 100 Index (the only Welsh business to be on the list) and in March this year was named the 2015 ‘Professional Services Winner’ at the Cardiff Life Awards.

Training contract programme

The trainee will work initially in the corporate finance team, dealing with mergers and acquisitions, equity finance and corporate structures and will report directly to the corporate director of the team and an assistant solicitor. The team work regularly with fast growth technology and life science companies.

The trainee will undertake a full training programme in accordance with the SRA guidelines.

Who are we looking for?

The candidate will be required to hold a 2.1 degree in a mathematics, science or technology discipline and have completed and passed the GDL.

One of the ways in which Greenaway Scott distinguishes itself from its competitors is that all members of the team require a first degree in a science or maths subject. We therefore require that all candidates applying for this position have a science or maths degree alongside their legal qualifications. We do this in order to make sure our clients and advisors are all speaking the same language when it comes to their business.
