Paralegal role with a view to a training contract

The firm

Purdy Smith is an exciting and dynamic new law firm that opened for business in London in July 2017.

The firm offers pragmatic, client-focused advice to leading brands and other businesses across a number of areas of commercial law including commercial contracts, advertising, consumer, intellectual property and data privacy law.

In addition to providing UK legal advice, we also co-ordinate international advice in our specialist areas from our strong network of legal contacts around the world.

We pride ourselves on being modern and down-to-earth in our approach.

You can learn more about Purdy Smith at www.purdysmith.com.

The role

Due to Purdy Smith’s continued growth its founder and CEO, Mark Smith, is looking to make his first hire and recruit a paralegal to assist him with a variety of legal and admin tasks.

If the paralegal impresses in the role there is a strong possibility that they will ultimately be offered a training contract with the firm to commence at some point in 2020.

Important aspects of the role will include conducting legal research, co-ordinating international advice, proofreading documents and writing articles. You may be required to manage smaller matters under supervision. The role will also involve assisting with practice admin, meeting and greeting clients, document production and chasing replies, instructions and invoices.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work effectively under pressure. They must work well in a small team, have strong file management skills, and understand the importance of providing outstanding client service. Good IT skills, and in particular a familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook, and strong attention to detail are important too. The candidate must be enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious with a professional, friendly and helpful manner.

Above all, we are looking for a candidate with a great “can-do” attitude who is interested in building a career with the firm.

Note that all applicants should have already completed their Legal Practice Course and be available to start work in August 2019.
