Legal administrative assistant, solicitor/caseworker and a paralegal (private client)

Our niche UK immigration practice area is seeking to recruit a legal administrative assistant, a solicitor/caseworker and a paralegal to join its private client team.

UKML is a private client law practice, with professional headquarters near to the conurbation of Solihull, in the West Midlands. We are enormously committed, and highly experienced lawyers and as part of the firm’s continuing expansion, with client care and reputation at our core, we are seeking to appoint a further solicitor/caseworker and paralegal to the business.

Legal administrative assistant 

The ideal candidate will have at least two years legal administrative experience preferably (but not essential) in the immigration law field. The candidate will work closely with solicitors and other legal team members on a diverse range of immigration, nationality, asylum and human rights issues and many other complex cases. 
 
The successful candidate will support a team of solicitors and caseworkers in their administrative tasks, including but not limited to audio typing, meeting and greeting clients, drafting correspondence, filing, archiving, opening and closing files, faxing, photocopying (bundles), liaising with chambers and the tribunal service and so on. The individual must be confident, able to work autonomously and under pressure, possessing an excellent work ethic. The successful candidate must be driven, with a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and must enjoy working with people.
 
This role requires an individual with a good academic background (appropriate to the position), some previous immigration experience and good communication skills. Immigration law being a specialist area, necessitates that applicants possess genuine enthusiasm, with an ability to form professional and empathetic relationships with clients.

Immigration solicitor/level 2 LSC accredited caseworker

The ideal candidate will be 3 years plus PQE (or an acceptable equivalent) or an accredited LSC level 2 caseworker and will work closely with solicitors and other legal team members on a diverse range of immigration, nationality, asylum and human rights issues and many other complex cases.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of private clients, including, but not limited to, tier 1 and tier 2 cases, family matters, EEA applications, settlement, nationality, human rights application, appeals, removal, deportation and judicial reviews. They will manage their own caseload, draft detailed representations and applications and provide advice on complex immigration matters. The candidate will also be required to attend asylum interviews, prison visits, Home Office appointments throughout the UK and client appointments in London.

The position will also involve working closely with and liaising with leading counsel, the Home Office and the tribunal service. Candidates will also conduct their own research, actively participate in training and supervise other members in the team.

We would expect the successful candidate to have an outstanding knowledge and UK immigration law and previous experience of the areas above.

Candidates must also have extensive knowledge of the immigration appeal process including judicial reviews.

Immigration paralegal - level 1 LSC accredited

The ideal candidate will have at least one year immigration law experience and will work closely with solicitors and other legal team members on a diverse range of immigration, nationality, asylum and human rights issues and many other complex cases.

The successful candidate will support two solicitors in their caseloads in respect to private clients, including, but not limited to, tier 1 and tier 2 cases, family matters, EEA applications, settlement, nationality, human rights application, appeals, removal, deportation and judicial reviews. The paralegal will assist fee earner to manage their caseloads, conduct their own research and also draft and complete immigration applications as well as attend asylum interviews, prison visits, Home Office appointments throughout the UK and client appointments in London.

The position will also involve working closely with and liaising with leading counsel, the Home Office and the tribunal service.

We would expect the successful candidate to have some knowledge of UK immigration law and some previous experience of the areas above.
