Graduate legal trainee programme
National Grid is an international electricity and gas company that plays a vital role in the everyday lives of people in the UK and the US helping to connect homes and businesses with the energy they use. We are looking for two aspiring lawyers to join us as trainee solicitors to help us deliver advice and guidance the National Grid business needs at this exciting time in the energy industry.
Our legal trainee programme offers you a fantastic insight into our legal function whilst being trained as a solicitor by the UK legal team. You'll work in a number of different, and equally critical, teams; tackling a wide range of challenging assignments; and benefit from career and professional skills development.
Because of the size of our business you will have the opportunity to work across a range of legal disciplines, including corporate, commercial, competition, HR, litigation (via a secondment at one of our panel firms), planning, property and regulation. This means you will have an experience as broad as at the biggest law firms, and be much closer to the impact of the advice you give.
An in-house lawyer works at the heart of the business. You will find yourself:
It's the kind of work that will test and stretch you, bring your academic knowledge to real life whilst at the same time encouraging your long-term progress. We believe that investing in you now will generate a great return for us in the future. So as well as developing you as a solicitor, our training will build your commercial know-how and expand your behavioural, personal and managerial skills.
At National Grid, we don’t just ask our people to deliver to the highest standards. We also support them to be the best they can be. Accredited training programmes and personal development courses are a part of life here. We value and encourage diversity of gender, race and thought, whatever your background. By helping you shape your career and get to where you want to go, we create a switched-on workforce. Which is exactly what we need to achieve our vision of creating new sustainable energy solutions.
