Property editor (maternity cover)

We provide critical online and print information, decision support tools, software and services to lawyers who practice in law firms, in corporate legal departments and in the public sector. We are a growing business in the UK, especially since the acquisition of Practical Law Company in March 2013 and we are very excited about the next stage in our growth and how you can play a part in it. 
 
Role purpose/ summary:
 
Practical Law Property is looking for a lawyer with experience in commercial property law to create and maintain a wide range of online resources covering all property topics, for use by busy lawyers and other property specialists. The editor will also provide support for Ask by answering questions received from subscribers.
 
Major responsibilities/accountabilities: 
  • Writing new content for the Practical Law Property service. This includes practice notes, standard documents and current awareness updates. 
  • Maintaining existing Practical Law Property content to ensure it is up to date and reflects current law, market practice, is well-written and complies with Practical Law’s approach to writing. 
  • Reviewing and editing content written by other team members. 
  • Answering questions from subscribers through Ask and responding to any comments posted on the Ask site. 
  • Working with other Thomson Reuters Legal services to produce cross-service materials. 
  • Reviewing and editing content contributed to Practical Law. 
  • Developing strategies to ensure you keep up-to-date with the law and market developments. 
  • Assisting with marketing Practical Law and engaging with subscribers. 
  • Assisting the Practical Law Property team with projects as required. 
  • Keeping aware of developments in other Practical Law services and the business generally and considering how they affect Practical Law Property. 
Qualifications
 
Mandatory skills and experience:
  • Ability to draft clearly and produce well-written practical content efficiently. 
  • High level of technical skill, with a broad knowledge of property law and practice. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a flexible approach. 
  • Self motivated. 
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. 
  • Ability to communicate legal concepts concisely and clearly. 
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills. 
  • Enthusiasm for the practice of property law with an intellectually rigorous approach to difficult issues. 
Education/ certifications required: 
  • Qualified lawyer (fee earner or PSL) with PQE at a major law firm.
