Law Jobs

Office and legal assistant

Holidays: 20 days per annum (plus public holidays)

Background of the firm

Stephens & Associates is an international law firm, based in London, and operates mainly within the fashion and sporting goods industries, acting for UK brands seeking to grow internationally and US brands needing legal assistance outside of North America. We cover distribution, licensing, franchising, joint-ventures, business strategy, IP, marketing, compliance, litigation management and operational company support. We aim to provide our clients with a close, tailored service, more akin to that of a general counsel and in-house legal team than that of traditional private practice. Major clients include Ugg, Harley Davidson, Radley, Orlebar Brown, Reiss, Evans Cycles, Sunspel, Jigsaw, Silver Cross and Reebok. Our clients distinguish us from others they have worked with by our commercial approach and our ability to integrate into their business.

1. Office assistant role

Responsible for office matters including reception, answering the phone, IT support, correspondence, couriers, filing, ordering supplies, liaison with landlord, routine financial matters and personal administration support to the partners. A working understanding of IT systems would be very helpful.

2. Legal assistant role

Historically, efficient candidates have been able to fulfil the office assistant role in less than 50% of their working time. This leaves significant scope for the candidate to become involved in the legal practice, where he/she will provide support to the firm’s associates and trainee, including assisting with their brand enforcement work, research, report writing and trade mark searches.
