Trainee solicitor

Purpose and overall relevance for the organisation:

• To assist the legal & compliance department in both legal and compliance matters affecting the company’s business.

Key responsibilities:

• Advise on a variety of legal matters including employment, commercial, contracts, sports marketing, competition law compliance, intellectual property, consumer issues and property/real estate under the supervision of the legal director and legal counsels
• Liaise with external legal advisers where appropriate
• Train/educate staff on relevant legal issues
• Report to the managing legal counsel on a regular basis
• Assist in maintaining legal precedents and filing systems relevant for the department

Key relationships:

• Global legal & compliance team, local marketing, finance, operations, consumer relations, sales, and HR teams

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Numerate and computer literate, in particular Microsoft proficient
• Excellent communication and organisational skills 
• Great ability to prioritise, manage own workload and ensure confidentiality
• Ability to work both on own initiative and within a team

Requisite education and experience/minimum qualifications:

• Excellent academic record (preferably 2:1 or equivalent) with a degree in English Law or CPE/GDL (or equivalent conversion course)
• Completed or in final year of the LPC
• Relevant work experience in a legal department or law firm
