The University of Law launches new full-fees postgraduate scholarship

The University of Law has launched a new full-fees scholarship which will fund one student from a low-income household a year through their studies.

The Sadiq Khan Set for Success Scholarship, named in honour of the current London mayor who is himself a University of Law alumnus from a less-privileged background, is eligible to one student a year studying either the Graduate Diploma in Law, Legal Practice Course or a law master’s. Applicants must be from a household with an income of £25,000 or less.

The Khan scholarship joins the Baroness Sayeeda Warsi Set for Success Scholarship, which also provides full-fees funding to one low-income postgraduate student each year. Students wishing to apply for either scholarship for a course commencing in September 2018 must do so by 5 July – full details of how to apply are here.

Commenting on the scholarship named in his honour, Sadiq Khan said: “I am pleased that this scholarship will encourage people from different walks of life to consider a career in law. I know that the experience my legal background gave me was vital when I decided to enter politics, and I am hopeful that the recipients of this scholarship award will go on to achieve great things for society, and for themselves, in the years ahead.”
