The Law Society has said that plans for a new, purpose-built court in London should serve to cement England & Wales’ reputation as the jurisdiction of choice for international commercial legal services and dispute resolution.

Law Society President Joe Egan made the point that UK legal services have an annual net worth of around £26 billion, so already make a huge contribution to the country in what is a very competitive global market.

He went on to say that the new state-of-the-art Bellwether commercial court should “increase the country’s capacity to tackle cybercrime and fraud will undoubtedly reassure business and help maintain England and Wales as the global centre for legal services post-Brexit”.
