Inner Temple raises rainbow flag for London Pride 2018

updated on 09 July 2018

The rainbow flag has been raised above the Inner Temple for the first time to mark London Pride 2018.

Barristers at the Inn of Court are flying the famous flag in support of the LGBT community over this weekend’s Pride celebrations. The gesture marks the latest step taken by the Inner Temple to make the Bar a more LGBT-friendly profession, following its recent introduction of optional equality and diversity training, and continued support of the Bar Lesbian and Gay Group and FreeBar

Greg Dorey, sub-treasurer of the Inner Temple, said: “Today, we send a strong signal to those thinking of becoming a barrister and those who are already members. The Inner Temple stands with you, no matter your background or identity. The Inns of Court are a place of inclusion and are working to make the profession inclusive for everyone.

“Pride matters. We stand with everyone celebrating Pride across the country and this visible sign shows our pride in the LGBT members of Inner Temple. The Bar should be a place of inclusion for all Barristers and those who work alongside them.”
