Applications open for international law scholarship

updated on 07 September 2018

Applications for H M Hubbard International Law Scholarship awards ranging up to £28,000 are now open to postgraduate law students wanting to study in Canada, France or Spain over the 2019-20 academic year.

Trainees and solicitors in England and Wales are also eligible to apply for the scholarships, which are awarded annually by an independent trust. The funding covers living and travel expenses for those wishing to study law while experiencing life in other countries, with awards ranging from £14,000 to £28,000.

Previous award recipients include Walter Merricks, the current chair of press regulator IMPRESS and the law reform charity, Justice.

Nick Turner, chairman of the trustees for the H M Hubbard Trust, said: “All of our scholars praise the Hubbard law scholarship for giving them the chance to further their academic studies and their careers. However, it is often the opportunity to live in and experience another country for which they are even more grateful. Living in another country allows our scholars to mature and grow more confident both personally and professionally. My co-trustees and I are delighted to offer this opportunity again in 2018. It will no doubt have a profound impact on another young lawyer’s life and career.”

Candidates seeking scholarship funding should view the further eligibility criteria and apply online by Friday 30 November 2018.
