Your dilemma is curious. Rather than wondering whether to do the LPC or the BPTC, you should be deciding whether you are suited to a career as a solicitor or barrister (remember that these courses equip you for legal practice and are of little use if you don't go on to secure a training contract or pupillage).
Your decision should be based solely on the type of lawyer you want to be. There are fundamental differences in the way that solicitors and barristers work. Does the flexibility of self-employment appeal? Do you work better as part of a team or on your own? Is advocacy something that you want to be doing regularly? Do you want a high level of client contact? Think carefully about the answers to these questions and hopefully it will become clear which branch of the profession is for you.
It might also be useful to get some work experience in law firms and chambers. Seeing what solicitors and barristers do day to day will help you compare the roles. Hopefully after this your choice will be clear. Good luck!
