UoL opens bursary for York students

updated on 28 June 2013

The University of Law (UoL) in York has announced that it is inviting applications from law students for the annual Tracy Kaye/Berrymans Lace Mawer (BLM) LLP Memorial Bursary, which helps towards LPC tuition fees. The successful candidate will also be offered one week's work experience at BLM in Leeds before starting the LPC at UoL.

The £1,500 award is open to students who have accepted a place on the LPC at UoL York and can show that their financial position would make it difficult to further their legal studies without it. They need also demonstrate a commitment to a career as a solicitor and to helping others through charity or pro bono work. An interest in contentious legal practice is also desirable.

BLM launched the bursary in 2009 in memory of their colleague Tracy Kaye, who specialised in personal injury litigation before her death in 2006. Chris Coughlin, senior partner of BLM Leeds, said: "We are delighted to once again be working with the University of Law in offering this bursary to a prospective LPC student in memory of our colleague, Tracy Kaye. It is important that talented students are recognised and rewarded for their efforts and we look forward to meeting the candidates."

The deadline for applications is Friday 23 August 2013. For more information and application forms, click here.
