University of Roehampton to create new law school

updated on 20 June 2014

The University of Roehampton is launching a law school, with plans to recruit its first LLB intake for a 2015 start.

As Lawyer2B reports, the university will offer 60 places each year for LLB students, with an initial target of 30-40 students for Autumn 2015. Currently, Roehampton offers undergraduate courses in criminology and postgraduate courses in human rights through the social science faculty. The university website states that new LLB course will be designed "with employability and career development in mind".

The law school will be led by Giles Proctor, former head of Kaplan Law School. Proctor commented: "The course will still be strong on academics but it is how you teach the academic side of things, how you bring the law to life."
