Students wasting £20 million on law conversion courses, research finds

updated on 26 October 2020

According to research conducted by Hook Tangaza, students are wasting £20 million on law conversion courses that do not result in a career in the profession.

The findings predicted that the introduction of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam will save students millions on pre-admission study courses (eg, the GDL and LPC), as learning is made more accessible and flexible, and allows students to space out their studies.

Around 15% of the total fees paid for the courses is spent by those who end up changing career paths, the research revealed.
