Law firm Shoosmiths is set to give staff access to an extra £1 million bonus pot four months ahead of schedule, after hitting its annual target for Microsoft Copilot prompts early.
The extra £1 million comes on top of £3.5 million in bonuses already awarded globally for 2024/25, with 1,300 eligible colleagues receiving a 5% salary bonus in July.
Shoosmiths was the first major law firm to link a firmwide bonus to AI adoption. The firm described its target for AI prompts as “clear and ambitious”. CEO David Jackson commented that reaching the goal early demonstrates “people’s commitment and enthusiasm to embrace change and create a new benchmark for what client service looks like”.
Shoosmiths is currently exploring additional opportunities with Microsoft as part of the next phase in its AI strategy, according to City AM. It’ll closely monitor how AI usage develops to ensure it doesn’t decline now that the bonus goal has been met.
