Ropes & Gray announced it will be retaining all its newly qualified (NQ) London-based trainees this month.

After qualification, the two trainees will join the international firm’s private equity transactions and asset management practices in London.

This isn’t the first time the firm has retained 100% of its NQs. In September 2021, it kept three qualifying trainees who joined its finance, litigation and enforcement and tax practices.

In March 2021, the City firm retained two trainees who joined its antitrust and leveraged finance practices, and in September 2020, the firm welcomed its five trainees to its asset management practice and private equity transactions practice.

Ropes & Gray’s training contract includes a long-running international seat and provides quality experience working on complex, cross-border matters. NQ trainees were awarded a permanent contract with the firm.

Ropes & Gray launched its London office in 2010, since then it has promoted 19 of its London lawyers to partner and has 165 fee-earners (50% female), including 29 partners (41% female) and nine counsel (78% female).

The preeminent global firm is committed to developing the careers of its lawyers and is known to promote its associates to counsel and then partner.
