Pupillage Podcast makes required listening for aspiring barristers

updated on 15 October 2019

Middle Temple’s Pupillage Podcast has returned for a second season.

The podcast is aimed at people looking for pupillage and those thinking seriously about a career at the Bar, with episodes featuring a range of guests discussing the various aspects of the pupillage application process, as well as different practice areas and key issues facing junior barristers and the wider Bar.

The podcast is run by two barristers at 5 Essex Court, Beatrice Collier and Georgina Wolfe. Commenting on the launch of season two, they said:  "At the end of season one, we felt that there was lots more to say on some specific areas and our listeners were keen to hear more about different practice areas. We also wanted to brave some of the controversial subjects we were worried about - the realities of the criminal Bar and the effect of AI on legal practice.

“We've been able to do all of this in season two. We heard from a wide array of barristers who told us about the reality of their individual practice areas, their day-to-day lives and junior earnings. They also gave us some great tips for relevant work experience and what you need to do to succeed in their field. We also cover lots of specifics that will be relevant to some listeners, from coming to the Bar as a second career to Third Sixes. One of the highlights for us was speaking to the Secret Barrister and Sir Brian Leveson, as well as junior practitioners, about life at the Criminal Bar. We were both shocked and heartened by what we heard. We hope that season two has something for everyone who’s thinking about a career at the Bar.”
