Several course providers have introduced a new central portal for all students who wish to study the BPTC.
Applications to study the BPTC at Cardiff University, Nottingham Trent University, The University of Law, the University of the West of England, Manchester Metropolitan University, the City Law School, Northumbria University and BPP Law School will be processed through the Bar Students Application Service (BARSAS) website, although students are able to contact the BPTC providers themselves to discuss the specifics of their courses. Applicants are able to apply from mid-November in the year before they wish to commence the course and can apply for up to six courses. As an example, in 2014-15 the schedule is as follows:
There has also been a change in the requirements related to joining an Inn of Court. Applicants are no longer required to be a member of an Inn before they apply for the BPTC, but must have joined one by 31 May of the year in which they are due to enrol on the course.
For more details on the process, go to the BSB’s BPTC page.
