Mass defection to Thirty Nine Essex Street

Thirty Nine Essex Street Chambers is welcoming 24 members of 4-5 Gray's Inn Square, including seven QCs, into the fold in a group move from the rival set.
It will raise the number of barristers at Thirty Nine Essex Street, which was recently named 'Chambers of the Year' at the British Legal Awards 2012, to 118 (37 QCs). It will also strengthen its expertise in areas such as public and administrative law, environmental and planning law, common law, and commercial and regulatory law.
David Barnes, Thirty Nine Essex Street's chief executive and director of clerking, said: "Enlarging our operations and bringing together this group of barristers, who have phenomenal experience and reputation in core areas of chambers, means that Thirty Nine Essex Street can offer clients an unrivalled service across one of the widest legal practice portfolios in the country.
