The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has approved the alternative business structure (ABS) licence for Jordans Corporate Law. The corporate law firm is part of the Jordans group, which also includes Jordan Publishing.
As reported by Legal Futures, the law firm currently has seven lawyers and will concentrate on non-contentious work including due diligence and transactional documents. Debbie Farman, head of legal practice, commented that the firm did not "intend to explore areas of the law outside those that we are already experienced in and well known for. The establishment of the ABS is a consolidation and enhancement of the services we currently provide to our clients."
Jordans is one of 189 bodies within the UK to be granted an ABS licence by the SRA, after applications opened in January 2012. As well as a legal publisher entering the legal advice market, other notable ABS entrants have included the privately-backed firm Knights Solicitors, a non-for-profit charity in Leicester and the Stobart Group.
