The Solicitors’ Charity, an organisation that supports the wellbeing of solicitors and their dependents, won Charity Collaboration of the Year at the Association of Charitable Organisations (ACO) Annual Awards 2025 for its long-running partnership with mental health charity LawCare.
The award recognised the two charities’ outstanding work together over the past 13 years. The aim of this collaboration was to provide vital wellbeing services to professionals, including direct support, training, information, research and advocacy. The Solicitors’ Charity provided core funding to LawCare, allowing it to deliver frontline services and special projects and research.
CEO of the Solicitors’ Charity, Nick Gallagher, said: “We are honoured to receive this prestigious award for our collaboration with LawCare. This recognition highlights the dedication of our team and our valued partner in supporting solicitors through some of life’s most challenging circumstances. Since 2012, we have helped nearly 3,700 solicitors in England and Wales through LawCare.”
According to the ACO awards judges, “this longstanding partnership continues to innovate and modernise the support offered to its beneficiaries, setting the standard for contemporary thinking across the sector.”
Despite the fantastic progress already made, there’s still more work to be done around wellbeing support in the legal sector – LawCare’s latest impact report revealed a 35% increase in people reaching out for support last year. The charity was contacted 1,037 times in 2024 – the most ever in a single year and a 13% increase on 2023.
